MG M9 EV Launched in India at ₹69.90 Lakh: A New Era of Luxury EV MPVs

The MG M9, JSW MG Motor India’s first all-electric luxury MPV, has been formally unveiled. It is reasonably priced at ₹69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). By combining grandeur, sustainability, and convenience, this daring move seeks to carve out a position in the luxury automobile market.

Positioning and Availability

MG Select, the premium dealership channel for MG Motor, is the only way to purchase the M9. With a ₹1 lakh refundable token, reservations are now being accepted, and deliveries are expected to start on August 10, 2025. It is MG’s most costly car to date in India and comes in a single fully equipped “Presidential” variant.

Its charging capabilities are impressive: conventional 11 kW AC charging takes about 10 hours, while 160 kW DC rapid charging recharges the battery in about 90 minutes.

External and Dimensions

With dimensions of 5.2 m by 2.0 m, a wheelbase of 3.2 m, and an approximate height of 1.8 m, the M9 is a large vehicle. It has a simple yet eye-catching design:

  • Projector headlights and split LED DRLs connected by chrome accents
  • Connected, streamlined LED tail lights
  • Continental self-sealing tires on 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Reminiscent of high-end ICE MPVs such as the Carnival and Vellfire, sliding rear doors

Concrete Grey, Metal Black, and Pearl White are the exterior color options.

Comfort & Interior

The cabin exudes elegance within:

  • Three rows of high-end brown-black suede and leather chairs
  • There are 16-way electrically adjustable captain’s seats in the middle row, along with fold-out ottomans, heating, ventilation, and massage.
  • Second-row passengers can push the front passenger seat forward in “boss mode” to gain more legroom.
  • Dual sunroofs, ambient lighting with 64 colors, and comfortable touches emphasize the cabin.
  • Features include a floating center console with wireless charging, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and a 12.23-inch infotainment touchscreen.
  • The usefulness is completed with a 55 L frunk and a roomy boot (945 L expanded to 1,720 L), rear entertainment displays, and a JBL sound system.

Safety & ADAS

MG has added Level 2 ADAS to the M9, which includes:

  • Emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control
  • For increased occupant protection, seven airbags
  • Front/rear disc brakes, TPMS, 360° camera, and ABS with ESP

The M9 has received five stars in Euro and Australian NCAP tests, while Indian NCAP ratings are still pending.

The Competitive Environment

The M9, which costs ₹69.9 lakh, is the only all-electric luxury MPV in India. It is priced between the Kia Carnival (₹63.9 lakh) and the Toyota Vellfire (₹1.22–1.32 crore). Additionally, it offers special EV-specific benefits including quick charging and V2L/V2V compatibility.

With its arrival as a feature-rich EV substitute for well-known luxury MPVs, the MG M9 represents a significant advancement for MG in India. It is designed for executive transport services and wealthy families and boasts striking dimensions, opulent interiors, cutting-edge technology, and a powerful electric range. Interested purchasers can make reservations through MG Select showrooms as deliveries are scheduled to start on August 10, 2025.
