With a starting ex-showroom price of ₹1.35 crore, Mercedes-Benz India has formally unveiled the AMG CLE-53 Coupé, positioning it above the CLE-300 Cabriolet at a premium of roughly ₹20 lakh.
Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.35 crore, continuing its aggressive drive in the Indian performance luxury market. This model is intended for drivers who want both daily use and track-capable performance. It combines cutting-edge AMG engineering, a stunning coupe design, and luxurious in-cabin amenities.
Impressive External Style
The distinctive Panamericana grille, which has vertical slats and prominent air intakes, gives the CLE-53 its distinctively AMG appearance. Its muscular stance is emphasized by flared fenders that make the track wider by about 75 mm at the back and 58 mm up front. The arches are nicely filled by the standard 19-inch alloy wheels, though 20-inchers are an option. The wide hips at the back give it a powerful appearance, which is enhanced by a two-part LED tail-lamp cluster that is unified by piano-black trim and quad exhaust tips snuggled into a gloss-black diffuser.
Design: Elegant and Muscular
The CLE 53’s AMG credentials are instantly noticeable from the outside. Sharp LED headlights with DRLs surround the Panamericana grille, which is a hallmark of AMG cars and dominates the front fascia. Its aggressive bumper design, long bonnet, and large air intakes all enhance its performance goal.

Powertrain: Packed plenty of punch
A 48-volt mild hybrid system supports the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 (M256) engine at its core. With an overboost capability that temporarily adds up to 600 Nm, this powerplant produces about 449 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque.
The drivetrain delivers rapid performance thanks to the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ AWD system and a 9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission:
- From 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds
- Electronically limited to 250 km/h, the top speed can be increased to 270 km/h with the optional AMG Performance Package.
Positioning and Competitors
With this high-performance coupé, Mercedes-AMG’s portfolio in India is greatly expanded, joining a range of more than ten AMG vehicles.
The actual launch price of ₹1.35 cr produces a strong value proposition that places it competitively against performance rivals like the BMW M2 (about ₹1.03 crore) and Audi RS5 (approximately ₹1.13 crore), despite some earlier pre-launch projections suggesting cost closer to ₹2 cr.
